If you own or rent a modern metal-frame building on a concrete slab, then concrete excavation is likely in your future.
Any time you must add an electrical conduit, drains, or plumbing, you’re going to have to break through the concrete slab to get to the dirt beneath it. You might even have to dig down to reinforce an area if heavier equipment is going to be moved into an area not designed to support the load.
Jack-hammers are used on city streets where dirt and noise are not an issue, the concrete is not to be saved, cleanliness is not a concern, and the patching-up job, after the work is done, can be a slap-dash temporary affair. This is not what you want done inside your building.
Concrete cutting is used to make regular and even slices in the concrete. This is then smooth enough to form the basis of a grated drainage ditch or be covered by access plates. If the area is to be re-sealed, the patches can be well-defined and aesthetically pleasing. In some cases, the concrete slab can be saved and used in the patch process, reducing the materials cost in resealing the excavation site. In the end, your wheeled carts and other rolling equipment should be able to roll smoothly over the place where the excavation was done.
Another reason you might wish a more controlled excavation process is that you’re not completely sure what is down there. You might encounter undocumented electrical lines, drains, or plumbing.
We at Cobra Concrete Cutting have the tools and equipment to cut and excavate trenches through existing concrete slabs, in a careful and controlled way, and in confined spaces. Our mini excavators are designed to clear narrow spaces so the dirt need not be removed by hand.
The best thing about Cobra’s equipment may not occur to you until you think about the impact this operation will have on the rest of the building. Exhaust from an internal combustion engine contains toxic and potentially corrosive fumes that might not be good for sensitive electronics, chemical operations, FDA certified or pharmaceutical preparations, and most especially are not good for worker health and safety. For indoor operations we have electric-powered cutting and excavating equipment. This can get the job done without smoke and fumes intruding into adjacent areas. Besides, the electric motors are quieter than any gasoline or diesel-powered engine typically found on traditional construction equipment.
We also have equipment that can cut through existing walls and footers to add functionality to your building with minimum disturbance of operations.

No battle plan remains unchanged after the opening horn has sounded. The plans for your building are no different. Every new operation or activity you add to your growing business is another chance to revisit the blueprint. When this happens, give us a call to see how we can help!
